I saw Julie & Julia today! It was very cute. I love how movies circled around cooking always inspire me to bake. So in honor of Julie & Julia, I made crêpes! The recipe is as follows:
(From the Joy of Cooking Dessert Book by: Irma S. Rombauer & Marion Rombauer Becker)
French Pancakes or Crêpes
Sift: 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
Resift with: 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Beat: 2 eggs
Add and beat:
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or 1/2 t grated lemon rind
*Heat your crêpe pan and add about 1/2 cup of batter; making a circular motion to spread the batter evenly. Cook until slightly brown on one side and on the other has brown speckles. ENJOY!*
I know what you mean! I loved this movie so much and I had such a strong desire to cook after watching...:)
ReplyDeleteI loved that movie! I saw it with my husband and he even liked it too! Meryl Streep is such a great actress. And we LOVE crepes... I think we eat it too much...hahah It's so hard not to!

I have yet to see this movie and I can't wait to do so!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recipe. I tried crepes once and unforntunalely, they weren't grand (but I'm sure it was because the two cooks didn't really know what they were doing).
